I have the sprint insurance plan, but i don't want to use it because of the deductible. There is nothing wrong with my phone worth paying the deductible either.

My problem is the capacitive buttons don't respond sometimes, especially the back button and it's getting worse.

The epic is less than a year old being launched last fall. Is it warranted by samsung or can i just take it to sprint and have it replaced?

I'd rather have them replace it with an EVO shift 4g because i've read this is a really common problem with the epic.

This is a known issue with some units and should be replaced under the standard one-year warranty, even with no insurance.

assuming you have TEP. Hardware defects are always free repairs OR exchanges if need be. Sprint Nor Insurance will ever switch models during an exchange unless you've had 3 lemons in a 6mo period, and even that is pulling teeth. If you want a different phone, you have to go a different route to get it.

PS, w/ TEP, the only time you pay the deductible is if you Physically Damage the phone.

I agree, Sprint should handle device defects without any hit on your insurance. They will most likely just swap out your device with a refurb. Getting Sprint to exchange your device for a different model will be a complete uphill battle if you can even get a rep to go along with the idea in the first place.
Usually the only time this works is when your within the 30 day window of purchasing your device and they will allow you to switch out to a different device before that 30 day return window is up.

Just to clear up prior to him going in and expecting a phone to be exchanged....not every store has the capacity to send you out the door with a new phone same day. Most of us have to AE (Advance Exchange, basically we have to order it from a warehouse) devices.

Also keep in mind that the technician is required to try and fix the problem prior to ordering it - we have AE budgets to maintain, and if the technician can't duplicate the problem, he can't troubleshoot the problem to fix, and or declare the issue something that justifies replacement.

and finally in so far as TEP/ESRP that covers the cost of repairs and AE's, ESP is basically mail in insurance, and ONLY covers you having insurance enough to be able to file a claim with Asurion.

If you don't have insurance, or if you're running with ESP it is a flat fee of 35.00 plus tax, all parts have 30 day warranty on them etc etc.

The 100.00 deductible is, as theblizzard stated, for physically damaged phones (charging port is broken off the board, or more than two cracks larger than an inch etc) or liquid damage - and keep in mind LD doesn't mean you dropped your phone in the toilet, you can get it from taking your phone in the bathroom while you take a shower, getting caught in the rain etc. Once you have either of those two things there is NOTHING we can do outside of helping you file a claim.

switching carriers doesn't help either as Asurion seems to have a monopoly on cell phone insurance with the major carriers.
