I have an Optimus from Sprint, and have random crashing issues, meaning, the phone OS completely restarts regardless of what the phone is doing; idle, charging, browsing, etc.
I did a hard reset, and it kept happening. Got a new phone, kept happening. Ensured it has newest firmware, I put NO apps on it, and it keeps happening. It mostly happens at work which is strange (the signal is weak).
I threatened to take both lines of service to another carrier because I'm not happy with how they're handling this, and doubt a phone replacement will fix it. The rep told me that it's a problem that I'm leaving the phone on 24/7, that I'm not rebooting it at least a few times per week, and not clearing out the call, texts, and browser log. He also said that weak signal can cause reboots. I call BS on this.
I'm not an idiot and am fairly sure that not doing those things should not cause the phone to crash. The phone should not crash due to factors that will happen frequently, like being in a weak signal area, and not clearing out my very short call/texts log.
I'm especially annoyed about his claim that I have to frequently reboot it. Practically all electronics are designed to be on constantly.
My guess is, should what he's saying be true, there would be a WHOLE LOT of complaints about random rebooting.
Any thoughts on this? I'm a little pi**ed off at Sprint right now, and would it not be for the early termination fee on two phones, would be going somewhere else today.
