Starting on February 5th, Sprint will begin reaching out to customers via email and snail mail to offer them a potential discount of $25, $50, or $100. This offer is on a case by case basis and will be flagged on your account. In order to keep customers from switching carriers, particularly those who are at a high risk of leaving, Sprint will be issuing discounts on handset upgrades with a two-year contract. The exact discount depends on the model. The promotion runs from February 5th to March 18th, and customers who are eligible for the discount will be notified via email or snail mail.

$100 doesn't come close to making up for the many atrocities Sprint customers have suffered but if you're thinking about a phone upgrade with contract extension you might save a few bucks if you can wait until Feb 5th.

From the Sprintfeed:

If you’re a loyal Sprint customer in need of a new phone, but you’re not quite eligible for an upgrade, Sprint still may have a deal waiting for you.

This sounds a lot like an unadvertised deal Sprint corporate stores had back in December where they would let customers upgrade who weren't otherwise eligible. It had the same, "case-by-case" eligibility the only difference was that customers received no notification for that deal. Several customers reported being able to upgrade even though they weren't eligible until November 2012. If they're willing to go Dec-Nov then Feb-October shouldn't be a problem. The question is, do the Powers that Be at Sprint consider you a flight risk? Be patient and check your snail mail.
