Sprint Galaxy S8 to TMobile - International Use

I have a Galaxy S8 that was originally through Sprint and I recently switched to TMobile. I'm in Canada and it won't connect to to any towers at all. TMobile support says it's because it was originally a Sprint phone. Is this true or is there something I can do to get this to work when I'm in Canada?

Did you check that the Sprint S8 is compatible with the Canada frequencies? If the hardware is different from T-Mobile's, it might work in the US but have issues elsewhere.
