[SPRINT] How do I block future OTA updates?

Before I rooted, the Samsung MF9 update downloaded automatically OTA to my Sprint version of the S4 and then I had to install it.
How do I prevent future updates from even downloading to my phone now that I'm rooted? If I'm not going to be updating OTA I don't see a need to have the file be sent to me.
Anyone have an idea on how to solve this.?

I know this is not answering your question, but I am curious how/why you were forced to install MF9? I have MF9 downloaded but am holding off the install until I get some answers on battery drain issues. It downloaded automatically but I wasn't forced to install.

If your still rooted, go into /etc/security and rename otacerts.zip to otacerts.bak

This will prevent the updates from flashing, although they may still download. As there is additional steps on Samsung phones to stop them, that I don't know.

A custom rom, whether its stock based or aosp based, will also disable ota updates, if its from a good developer.

Just so you know too, due to the nature of Samsung's ota updates, you should never flash a stock ota over a rooted system, as this may cause some bad things to happen. Always revert back to complete stock before flashing an ota.

I wasn't forced, I knew when I wrote that I shouldve worded that differently, sorry. I waited for the update then I rooted, I just didn't know it would auto download, thought I would have to click to download.

I'm currently on Negalite and I don't want to do any ota samsung updates. I'm more than happy to wait for custom updates. I swear I read a way to stop the update from even downloading but I can't find it now. Or at least to know where it stores the download so I can delete it.

Ota downloads should be stored in your systems cache partition, although sometimes they are stored in other locations as well.

Try rebooting into recovery and clearing your cache and dalvik cache (just to be sure) after doing the file rename.
