Hi,

I just got my Sprint HTC ONE and I live in Lower Manhattan NYC. I am only getting 3G service, but not 4G. However I have a older 4G phone and that is getting 4G service. Does anyone know whats the reason for this? And who else is having similar issues in NYC?

Thanks

Oh yea, also, it should be by default, but make sure data is in LTE/CDMA mode and not just CDMA

What was your older phone? Offically 4G lte hasn't launched in NYC yet. You old phone might have had the older 4G which is also know as WiMax. Go to Coverage Maps | Sensorly and see if 4G lte is in your area

Thanks

4G LTE is very limited in NYC right now. I seem to pick it up more in the outer boroughs than I do in Manhattan. I definitely don't get it around the WTC area. I used to pick up the WiMax 4G signal throughout most of the city on my old phone.

Old phone is probably 4g wimax... New is 4g LTE.

my older phone isn't really old... it came out in Feburary. Its the Kyocera Torque for sprint. I get 4G with that.

I did a PRL update and still dont get it. I read somewhere the HTC ONE doesnt support a specific frequency band for the 4G which is why im not getting it. Is this true?

I live in Chinatown Manhattan. Anyone else in the lower east side that can verify their HTC ONE is also not working?

thanks

The HTC One has the frequency to work on Sprint LTE network.

The 4G/LTE network in Manhattan is still spotty. Upper West Side in 5 Napkin Burger on Broadway and the West 80's, I got 31.7 mb/s download, but no signal between Amsterdam and Columbus. East side in the low 60's, I get around 2 mb/s. In and around Chinatown 4G/LTE is spotty, but got over 3 mb/s on Bayard & Elizabeth Streets.

Check out the Sensorly map for Sprint 4G (NOT Sprint WiMax) to see if anyone else received a signal in any particular location: Coverage Maps | 4G - USA - Sprint | Sensorly

I do appreciate the information in this thread because I had this same question but just to clarify...

The HTC ONE will or will not pick up the 4G (WiMax) if it is in my area (which it is) ????

4G LTE is NOT in my area yet so I'm wondering if I'm stuck with 3G coverage till 4G LTE comes, or can I still get 4G (WiMax) until then?

The HTC One will only pick up 3g and 4g LTE. Not wimax.

I also live in Chinatown, Manhattan. I get 4G on my HTC in my apartment, near east broadway and essex. I get 4G occasionally other places too bud sadly most of the time it's only 3G.
