sprint ota update on my phone

my g3 keeps asking me if i want to update my phone to the newest update. My phone is rooted and I run 4.1.2 stock. (just like my free hotspot) if I do the update sent to my phone will i lose my ability to us the hotspot?

Yes...if you accept the ota you will lose root. Find myerweb's thread on how to update to MD4. Do you custom or stock recovery?

Shane, are you running the stock recovery or a custom, like CWM or TWRP. My understanding (although I've never tested it), is that if you're running custom recovery the OTA will fail, and not bother you with notices any more. If you're running stock recovery, you will lose root.

Follow the link in the post above yours. In that thread go post #2 and download the zip that says MD4 baseband/modem/firmware. Boot to recovery, wipe cache and dalvik then flash the zip.
