as of right now i need to wait until aug 1st to get my evo since thats when my 2 years ends. i am on a family plan in which my dad is the primary account holder, so he is currently the premier customer. so about 3 weeks ago i called sprint to have them switch me to the primary account holder so i could get a one year upgrade. the lady told me that at the end of this cycle, i would be the primary and i could buy a new phone.

so last week i called to confirm that they were gonna switch me to the primary and the guy told me that i will still need to wait an extra month after being the primary to get the upgrade. can somebody straighten this situation out for me? every rep keeps telling me something different. im too impatient to wait till aug 1.

why not just upgrade ur dads line then when u get home u just call sprint and tell em u wana change ur dads new evo with his old so they will ask for ur dads original phone esn to activate it then the evo is not activated hangup call again and activate the evo on ur phone number

What you should do that will save you a lot of trouble is just upgrade your dad's line and then call sprint and have them perform an ESN swap, which means they will put your phone number on the EVo and his phone number...well on whatever phone he wants. This way, you can get your Evo, and your dad can get a phone in August if he wants.

BOOM! Done :)

P.S: My dad is the primary but I still get premium upgrades every year. So maybe you should check again.

If you purchase from Sprint remember to get the upgrade you have to leave the phone active on the line with the upgrade you used for 30 days in order to get the MIR.

The premier account does not necessarly go to the primary holder but the phone number that was the orginial phone on the account. I have 2 phone numbers, the primary account is attached to the first phone. My roommate has my orginial phone and that is time primary phone. All you have to do as mentioned above is get the phone on the primary account and have the primary account holder call and have the esn numbers switched. Easy process. If the primary account holder is present when purchased they can do it when you purchase the phone.

I've had something similar happen. My line was the primary line, was the first line on the account, but at some point they changed it to my secondary line. Called to have it changed and it took months (literally!) In the end they just ended up notating the account and when I went into BB for my upgrade they had to call and confirm with Sprint.

This time my 3rd line is eligible now and the primary line isn't eligible until 7/1 so I'm going to upgrade the 3rd line with the EVO and call sprint and swap it to my line. Next month I will upgrade the primarly line and swap it to the second line. It's kind of a hassle, but in cases like this it's easier than trying to swap who is primary.

this is what happened to me. i upgraded last year and should have been eligible in feb, but the primary got switched to my mothers line on my account. called 3 times to fix it. they said it would take 1-2 billing cycles for the change to take effect. i wanted to make sure that when june 4th got here i would be able to use my upgrade. i called back again and they told me to contact order support and that they could fix it to where i could upgrade now if i wanted to or that when im ready i could. only catch was that the sprint store or any sprint retail place (BB or RS) would have to call and be granted access to upgrade me. hopefully everything will work out.

according to the asinine sprint customer service lady. if i upgrade another phone and switch phones back to my number, my rebate will be voided. this sounded incorrect to me though.

and according to mysprint i can get the $150 upgrade on aug 1.

and here is the other detail. my dad (the current primary) just recently upgraded his phone. I havnt bought a new phone since like 19 months ago. there are two other phones on my account though that are eligible for a full upgrade.

I was told the same thing, which is why they told me specifically to buy mine from BB or Radio Shack, activate it, come home and then switch it to the line I wanted.

Just call them and tell them you really hate your phone and want to upgrade to the evo. They moved up my upgrade so i could get mine

thanks for all the help guys.
okay, here is my plan. since my cycle ends on august 26th, im gonna check my sprint on that day and see if it says an upgrade is availible. if not, should i buy the evo on my moms number at radioshack/bestbuy and then switch it to mine? the thing that worrys me about doing that switch is the 10 dollar 'premium data' bull#$&* fee. if i do the switch, wont she now have a charge on her number and i would have a charge on mine?

im also keeping this in mind. im kinda bad at complaining to customer service, expecially when i actually love my current phone, i just cant pass up the evo.

Does anyone know Sprint's Premier sales phone number. I know it's an 800 number but cannot find any listing. Thanks for the help.
