Hi, I didn't see this posted anywhere else. So we've had the FC09 leak for some time, but this morning had a message on phone that it had downloaded and ready to install Sprint official update FC09. Anyone else got this yet?

Also strange, I'm not running a custom rom but am rooted with custom kernal for OC/UV and voodoo. Can I safely install this since it downloaded automatically or do I need to go back to pujre stock? Also if I install will I lose root?

To answer your question, no you wont hurt your root, and yes you can push it. It's really safe now, because actually I think it has either already come out or is soon to come out. I pushed FC09 and now Ive pushed a leaked version of FC19. Which I regret now, because I cant for the life of me find a rom that plays nice with that modem. So I have to either Odin back to FC09, or just wait it out with one of the three crappy ROMS that I know of that are out, and hope for the best! the ROM Im running now is stable, but I cant stand it. But I think It should hold me through til one of these prolific Dev's get to work and find how to make a better ROM! :)
Hope this helps,
Ridge  ]

Uh I don't need to push it just hit ok. It officially came out this morning at least to my phone. Just a little concerned about installing it when rooted because I remember there were issues with doing that in past updates. Anyone else have an opinion, preferably someone who tried to install it over a mostly stock root? As stated I have samurai kernal, also may have deleted one or two of Sprint's bloatware apps...

If you're not 100% stock, it'll fail the install, and leave your phone as it was before you started.

The worst thing that will happen is the install will fail due to having a custom recovery installed. In that case you will have to return to stock to install the update, then re root and flash your kernel, etc. once again... Don't forget to make your backups before you try with Titanium/My Backup Root so you can pull your information back if you have to re root again.

Ok thanks Paul will install after work and see what happens.

The wife got the FC09 upgrade message today. Anyone know what this updated fixes or changes?

She has a stock Epic 4g.

Yes, the big update was the Sprint Connections Optimizer (Kind of like a Juice Defender...you can leave Wifi on all the time and it will auto connect when you come into range of the remembered Wifi connections. Outside that range, it only periodically samples the air, if you will sniffing for a Wifi. It doesn't scan continuously running your battery down. I love this. The GPS stayed the same as EL30. I will only lock 4 satellites. You can run the GPS fix from EI22 though. Oh, and I think (but can't confirm) that the leaked FC19 left the Sprint Conn Optimizer out, so I wouldn't even be interested in that one.

I got it yesterday morning phone not rooted standard out of the box. Was not even sure what it was. hubby who has same phone bought same time same place did not get it yet:cool:

Was on stock EL30 except was rooted. Ran the Sprint update to FC09 and it would freeze during the install. Had to odin to stock EC05 and go through all updates. Once i updated to FC09, then just rooted from there.
