Hi everyone. I'm hoping you guys can help me choose a phone. I'm a Sprint customer and plan on staying a Sprint customer for a long time. I currently have a Rumor 2 and hate it. It's not a bad phone for a dumb phone but I'm a smartphone kinda girl. In the past I've had Blackberry Curves, a Treo 800 Windows phone and Palm platform PDAs. My husband is allowing me to use his Premier upgrade as my line isn't eligible until next July and he will take my Rumor.

I was originally drooling over the Evo but with rumors of it being $299 just isn't in the budget right now, especially because I really don't *need* all of the features it has. As of right now I'm torn between the Blackberry Tour 9630, Samsung Moment and the HTC Hero. I'm a stay at home mom who is going to school to be a medical transcriptionist so I would really like to be able to put my medical dictionary on my phone because the actual hard copy dictionary weighs 9.5 pounds. I've checked and I can get that on the Blackberry and the Android platform. Other features I need are a good calendar with reminders so I can keep track of doctors appointments and such for me, hubby and the kids. I also need a to-do list. A decent camera is somewhat important because I am a shutterbug with kids and love to snap random snapshots. In a couple months I will be dropping our home phone service and we will just be using our cells so battery life is important as well. Battery life is what really has me scared to go Android.

I'm open to any input anyone can offer. I tend to overanalyze things and it messes me up. :o

OK
Well what medical dictionary are you using? This is important cause if you need it right now... may not actually be able to be put on a current Sprint Android device (they are both getting upgraded to software that can run it, but no one knows the exact date, should be before Evo launch anyway). Lexi-comp works on both the Moment and Hero, but Epocrates doesn't. I have it on my Hero, but thats because I'm running the leaked software upgrade. I can tell you though, it runs beautifully, if thats the one you use. I tried Lexi-comp on my Hero before the software upgrade... and it was painfully slow. I haven't tried it since.
Battery life is fine on the Hero. I get a day on the original battery, 2 days on my extended battery. The moment has mixed good/bad battery stories after their last update.
There are good ToDo lists apps in the market. I recommend Color Note.
The camera on the Hero is OK, but doesn't have a flash. If you take an outdoor picture, its going to look just fine. Indoor pictures with light OK, semi-dark and dark pictures... Nope.
The calendar is great. Reminder's are spot on without a hiccup yet. It syncs with google calendar so you can do all your appointments on-line from a computer. There is even a way to get google calendar to sync with Apple's iCal, Outlook Calendar, Exchange Calendar. You can set them from the phone and they will sync with google calendar. If the phone gets broken, lost or stolen and you need it replaced, they come back.

I forgot 1 more thing. There is probably a Samsung Moment 2 coming out. Dunno release dates, but that may suit you better.

The medical dictionary I was going to use was Taber's version at Skyscape. I had no idea it wouldn't work. Good thing I asked about it. I have been searching trying to find out more about the Moment 2 but haven't found much about a release date. I'm itching to get something soon but at the same time, don't want to rush in to a phone just because it's available. I love the simplicity and the reliability of the Blackberry but all of the apps you can get for the Android is just too much to pass up.

I'm a former blackberry user and will not look back. Android is really evolving right now and should mature soon. I think you should choose android over bb. I like both the hero and Moment. They both have they pro and cons.

I'm 99% sure I'm going to end up with the Moment. Everything just keeps coming back to it. I was afraid of steering away from the hard keyboard.... Moment has it. I wanted to be able to have more Ipod-ish type apps....Moment has it. After having this Rumor, I really can't go wrong.

It may work. I have friend who has skyscape on his hero

By the time I decide, Android 34235432543.2 may be out and it wont be an issue. LOL

Maybe you can answer another question for me. I read on a forum that the Moment's GPS is off because aGPS isn't supported in 1.5. Is that still the case?
