Here is a thread on XDA with instructions on how-to enable Spark: Sprint Tri-band activation help? - xda-developers

I'm not one to tinker with this type of stuff, so I would advise against it, or if you must, with extreme caution.

Dont think so. I think you have to enable it by changing the priorities on each band. When i first went into edit everything was 1-1-1. But im getting confused because some people are saying to set priority to 0-0-1 and others are saying set it to 0-1-1. Either way both of them seem to do nothing anyways. Not getting the Spark icon on the top.

Scratch that. I didn't enable bands 26 and 41. My lte speeds just about doubled actually. Was getting around 4 down 2 up. Now I'm at 10 down 5 up. Still no spark icon though. Just did it again getting roughly 14 down 6 up. Much improved.

i'm in new york which is one of the supposed rollout areas. decided to try it anyway.

Someone with as G2 on S4GRU got Saprk in NYC on 5th avenue with speeds of 62mb down. I would imagine any place that had a Wimax signal should get Saprk speeds if it was turned on there at that location

What are your priorities set too?... 1-1-1?

right now its 0-0-1. I read it off on XDA. Apparently the Nexus 5 needs an update in order to use sprints spark lte, but i did notice a jump in speeds ones i enabled tri-band.

I got my MSL number from Sprint and unlocked the other bands... Set priority to 0, 0, 1 and even 1, 1, 1 and at least here in the Dallas Texas area I am seeing no improvement or difference. I got LTE on my EVO 4G LTE a couple of months before they officially announced Dallas as an LTE launch city so I figured I might be able to find some spots with "Spark" but no dice.... My lord Sprint service is so freaking horrible and slow... A wonder on how and why I've stayed with them so long.... I am out of contract and I am thinking I am going to test out AT&T and maybe even T-Mobile in the DFW area... Totally unacceptable how slow and spotty their overall service is here, Major metroplex and was a "LAUNCH" LTE market for Sprint.... Unlimited is great but when it takes 15 minutes to load a simple webpage and I just say F' it and check it when I get home or find WiFi it's kind of pointless... I was really hoping unlocking those other bands was going to improve my service but NOPE.... Nothing... Screenshot_2013-11-22-19-00-34[1].jpg

Guys, realize that it is highly likely that the nexus will never show a "spark" icon. That would be considered "sprint bloat" and the nexus doesn't have any of that.

Tmobile has pretty extensive lte coverage in the metroplex. Speed in about 20 mbps at 3 or 4 bar signal. It's hspa+ 4G also had a speed of 3-10 mbps.

@T-Mobile GN3

Well Texas wasn't an area that rolled out spark right? And Jesus Christ those speeds are terrible. I would have jumped ship long time ago if I were getting those.

But would we still get speeds that sprint is telling us? I mean I'm technically paying for it. I should be able to receive it no?

Just cause you're paying Sprint for something, doesn't mean you'll get it. I just left Sprint for T-Mobile 2 weeks ago, and I'm getting everything I'm paying for. Including unlimited data with actual fast internet!

indeed, sprint's definition of every "G" is somehow slower than others. I remember first time I got TMo, whose 3G somehow reached 5 mbps in Austin, compare to <0.5 mbps on sprint.

The sprint network is truly pathetic IMHO.

No Dallas isn't a Spark LTE city but they were one of the launch LTE cities.... I figured I'd try this and just enable the other bands and see if maybe just maybe they had some of those other bands active but it doesn't seem that they do... and I moved to Dallas from Nashville... In Nashville I got much better overall service and Wi-Max 4G coverage when I lived there.. Been on Sprint for going on 15 years now but it's time to change I think...
