Stainless Steel Watch Protector That Guards Scratches & Nicks In Metal?

So, I am nervous about my stainless steel watch face and band (not the glass) getting nicks and scratches.

Is there some type of protector that can be wiped (not sprayed) onto the metal to keep it from getting scratches?

I have found these items, but I'm not sure if they would work or would even be safe to apply.
