Hey guys, first time poster here. We have several TV's running different slide shows in our building. Each one of those tv's is connected to a pc whose only job it is to drive the display.

I'd like to get rid of those old pcs, and run an android box/stick in it's place and have it constantly display and images found on either a usb stick or sd card media.

Devices will not be networked in any way, just driving the displays.

Just curious what apps you might recommend for this aswell as how to set them up to boot directly into the app and have it constantly cycle through the available images.

Thanks!

I'd also check if the TV itself has that feature. If it has an USB port chances are you can just plug in a drive and it'll pull media files off of it and play images in a slideshow automatically (might be plain and no fancy transitions or customizations, but it's something!)

If you opt for a Roku (not the stick, as those you'd need to connect to WiFi and stream the content from a networked source) you can insert an SD card and play the files from there with their built-in media viewer.
