Starting to hate Samsung.

I didn't realize how many of their apps were exclusive to Samsung.

Between their phone, text, and voicemail app, it was all theirs.

Which means I can't get it on a non Samsung phone.

The layout, simplicity, and features were just better than other apps.

I thought the point of Android was so that I wouldn't get locked into one environment.

But by making their apps exclusive to them, they've become another Apple.

I prefer ALL of the Google versions, never liked the Samsung versions. With Samsung phones, alot of features are exclusive to their apps only. Some like this, and some people don't prefer them.

I'm not sure why, but I don't trust Samsung as much as Google with my personal information ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Same. Google being an Advertising company, our data is their bread and butter. They won't let it out of their grubby, sticky little metaphorical fingers. Samsung sell products, and their preinstalation of crapps like Facebook, linkedin, McAfee and in the past stuff like Fortnite shows that they don't really care about their users very much.

That said, we should only trust any of these companies to act in their intterest, none of them care about users beyond ensuring we don't hate them enough to stop giving them our money.

An indisputable advantage of android will always be the ability to download everything not from the official store Google market (all at your own responsibility, of course)

I definitely love Samsung's UI. I hated it before and loved it with my S10. You're right: they definitely want to hook you with their own unique way of operation.
I used to be the same. I hated TouchWiz so much that I didn't give Samsung any consideration. However, OneUI on my S10+ was great. It's even better on my S22 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. I also love Samsung Internet browser and Samsung email.

I don’t like or dislike Samsung. To me it’s just, if I’m going to use Android I’m going to use Android. Adding another layer complicates things. Then there’s Google apps, Samsung apps, etc. all on one phone. I’m a simple guy.

There's nothing wrong with that. I formerly used Nexus and Moto devices. So I'm familiar with the most vanilla type of Android and like it.

The main reason why I don't use Pixel is because it lacks the manual camera settings. My background is as an SLR user of a Canon F1 that was entirely manual, so point and shoot isn't my preference. Prior to Samsung, I used LG V20.

Totally understand. Pixel means (to me) bare bones with the most raw of experiences. Not to say they don’t have advanced features but the highest of those are generally going to be from some other manufacturer.

I will say that if one wants great photos via point and shoot, then the Pixel devices are the best option.
