Starting to really hate this phone and Sprint!

I really hate that I walked into the Sprint store blindly after breaking my OG Evo 4g, and gave up my awesome 4g connection for no connection at all on this Evo LTE! I'm so sick of calling Sprint complaining only to be offered a measly 10 dollar credit for the inconvenience, which I told them to keep until they ready to put some more money with it! :-$

Ever since I got this phone on the 3rd of this month I have been having the worst connection issues, the phone keeps disconnected itself from the mobile network, experiencing unbearably slow internet connections, and now today I haven't been able to connect to the internet at all!:'(

Sure this phone is a beast at home over my wifi, but when I leave home this sucker is virtually useless to me, and I am ticked the heck off about it!!! And yes I know it's not the phones fault that Sprint's network sucks but it's kinda like when you stub your toe on the coffee table and get mad at the table cause your a clutz! SMDH (End Vent)

Does sprint still have a return period? Might try that

Yeah well passed the 14 day return period, they kept telling me they're were Towers down in my area and they were working on the problem, So returning the phone is no longer and option.

sell the evo lte on craigslist and buy and og evo or sgII until lte gets up and running in chicago which i think might be sept but even when it launches only approx 40% or less of the sites will be completed

Yeah I thought about that, but then I lose my freaking upgrade and will be stuck with the old Evo for the next? (what is it now 2 years) or be forced to pay full fare it seems no matter what I decide to do I still lose out in one way or another!

Have you had your hardware checked by Sprint at a corporate store? It's very possible you have bad radios. Failing that, it's the network.
3G hovered between terrible and nonexistent in my neck of the woods for a couple of weeks when I first got my phone, so I can empathize with your frustrations. I went from getting 60k on a good day to averaging 500k to 1000k in my area more recently. Still not great, but it's serviceable.
All I can say is hang on until Sprint quits screwing with the towers in your area and you have LTE.

I'm in the same boat, they are reducing my monthly fees until they fix the towers in my area. I cant really use the phone at all unless I want to surf the web on it via wifi, but I'd rather do that on my pc.

But instead of hating the phone and hating Sprint, I hate Sense and Sprint. The phone rocks. I just wish there was a master toggle switch that would turn off Sense.

There is a LOT of recent change activity on Sprint's network- tower prep work, upgrading 3G, adding LTE, changing the backhauls, testing with new devices, etc. It is quite possible that service will really suck in some areas, temporarily, while these things are being worked out.

Of course, there are lots of overloaded areas that just suck most of the time (and have for way over a year), but that is just slow, slow, slow 3G... it doesn't cause the symptoms described by the OP. That is why I suspect her area is being hit by the Vision upgrade team...

Not all sprint corp stores are a repair center. The one in my area is a preferred retailer.

Last I heard over at Community Blog List - Sprint 4G Rollout Updates, Chicago is currently undergoing Network Vision upgrades and they are having some problems with the way legacy tower equipment and new equipment is responding. I want to say Chicago has Motorola legacy equipment and I believe Samsung is the NV vendor upgrading that area which is where the problem comes in. I dont know a whole lot about it or if it has been resolved but it might be worth a check on S4GRU to see what the status is. I remember reading that Sprint is aware and they are working on it but it may take some time as this is an unexpected consequence of all the upgrades. As far as I remember, Chicago is the only market experiencing these issues.

What would I do without someone like you to keep me straight?

OP, go to a Sprint Store that is also a "repair center" to make sure you don't have a hardware problem.

Might not be a hardware problem. I've dropped a signal like once in a blue moon or it'll go to a 1x connection. Sometimes doing a network reset helps.

This. I had virtually no signal for like a week. Called Sprint to complain and they said towards were down. Then all of the sudden it started working and i am now getting better speeds than I ever have on Sprint 3g.

No need for sarcasm. I was just saying. I know that when people have been sent to my store from the corporate store they are pissed because neither one is a repair center and I have to send them to another store. Most people don't like driving all over town to find the repair center. And I don't like being yelled at because the customer was misinformed or didn't do their homework first.

Lol, No sarcasm intended. Apologies if I came across that way. I meant to be tongue in cheek. And point taken on doing homework first before driving all over town - at least call to verify before you go.

Thanks for your input and yes I had the store check it out, they said the phone is fine and he even did a speed test and it was faster then his phone so I guess it is the towers. I'm trying to hold on cause I know it's a great phone.

Well I sure hope, and that's what the Sprint reps are telling me, I think the launch date for LTE in Chicago is September. I hope I can survive that long!

People should do homework before making an investment that they will have for two years. Sprint or not. ;)
