Static Noise from top speaker

Got my nexus 6 and absolutely love it, but any time the noise comes from through the speakers once the noise stops there's a static noise that comes out for about 3 or so seconds and eventually stops. I think there might be a minor fault with my top speaker but don't no if its worth seeking a replacement or not. Especially if I get a refurbished unit.

Every speaker has that noise when it is activated, some are just louder than others.

If you put your ear up to a speaker on any Device you will hear the activation "hiss" start when it is called upon to produce a sound and then shut off after it makes the sound (be it a click or whatever).

3 seconds after sounds a little long though and if it is really that audible it might be worth looking for a replacement. It really just boils down to if you can live with it or not. There is also the chance that it is indicative of what might become a total speaker failure or something major down the road. I would probably return it going by what you describe.

Yeah might give Google play a call and see if I can get a brand new unit. It is audible I'm not being pickie, after opening apps and it gives the little pop sound to let you no the app has been clicked the after sound is louder and way longer than the pop tone.

Yeah that's not normal at all. The normal after sound is maybe a half second at best and not really even really audible unless you literally put your ear up to the speaker. Definitely RMA and insist on a new device, not refurbished if you just bought the thing.

Its only audible in quite room, but it definitely doesn't seem normal. I called google and they gave me a trouble shooting list that I have to do first. The list includes a factory reset so I gotta find time to do all that first, then I'll get back to them. Also gonna wait for my girlfriend to get back and see if her N6 does it also.

Wow, is this the beauty of having 60-year old ears? I do not hear a hiss during the silence. I listen to about 5-6 hours of podcasts a day, all through my speakers. I don't hear the hiss.

Now if I could only find a way to not see dust :)

Please post back what happens

Hi guys my girlfriend got back from holidays and her N6 does it also, I'm not sure if hers is quite as loud but does the exact same thing. Maybe I'm just being picky or have really good hearing but I don't think I'll bother sending it back.

All devices do it to some extent. It is the normal sound of the speaker turning on and off when called upon. Its a matter of how bad it is and if it bothers you.

Its only really noticeable in a very quite environment, I've never noticed it on any other device so obviously this phone is louder and longer than usual but if its on my girlfriends phone I dare say its on most if not all nexus 6.

Mine does this too. I noticed it when trying a game the night I got it. If you're not paying attention it almost sounds like the sound of a hard drive and you don't realize what it is at first. Usually it has to be a mostly quiet room but I've noticed that as battery gets lower the noise is more noticeable. I have confirmed this behavior with multiple internet searches and forums. I'm holding out hope that it is somehow a software issue, although the 5.0.1 update I got last week did not affect the issue. I got my phone in mid December, if that helps.

Yeah a factory reset won't do anything. That's the actual speakers physically making the noise when turning on and off. I actually have a device that does not only the scratching and hissing, but also a loud pop about half the time.
