Static Shock question

Hi all,

Dumb question incoming, but I figure I have to ask. I carry my xoom around in a neoprene sleeve that has some soft lining. When I took it out of the case tonight, I got a bit of a static shock, nothing huge, but a little jolt.

Is something like that going to mess up the tablet? Or is that kind of a normal thing. I mean I remember the old static bracelets when working on the innards of a computer, so I don't know if the same kind of fear apply here.

Thanks all for any info!

There is ESD shielding to protect the innards from damage. You don't have anything to worry about from any kind of static discharge as long as you don't make a habit of opening up your Xoom :p

You're not alone- I have/had the (unlined) Moto-branded Silicon Gel Case, and the same thing happened. I know there's ESD shielding, but still ... so I tried rinsing the case in a mild soap-and-water solution hoping that would alleviate some of the static buildup, no dice.

I'm sure this has happened to whomever tested these things for fit at Moto (I hope!) and they passed it, but it's disconcerting nevertheless. I hope the charge buildup diminishes as time goes on.
