Step Counter on Pixel 7 Issues

I de-installed Goggle Fit on both the Pixel 7, and Pixel Watch 2. I use Fit Bit basic.

However, recently I installed a Medical app, MedM Health, to track my O2 reading.

It can sync with Fit Bit premium, and Google Fit for some measurements.

It also counts steps with any app being installed.

This is a problem.

However, I discovered that the internal Step Counter on the Pixel 7 is active even if Fit Bit is not installed.

"They say, Their App does not require Google Fit to be installed.

Because this step counter is on the phone, you need to carry the phone with you to get steps. Most people I know do not want to carry their phone when walking or exercising .

And this step counter populates your APP MedM history with all Step Counts by day that are completely wrong. The App will not let you delete the step count history.

Can some one explain what is going on. How do I turn off this internal Pixel 7 step counter.

I read you need to go it through Google Fit but that does not work.

For example today one my watch I stepped about 6,000, however, the MedM App shows through the internal step counter only 473 steps.

This situation with all these Health apps is confusing and creates all kinds of syncing issues.
