I stepped on my tab and my screen is all messed up. The screen isn't cracked or anything damage that I can see, but the screen is discolored. I called a couple of repair shop and they are quoting me around $180-200. My question is should I get it fixed or buy a new Nexus 7 or any other $200 tablet?

If it were me, I would just buy a Nexus 7. As big of an improvement as ICS is over Honeycomb, I still think that the tablet is a bit laggy. I think maybe it is the Touchwiz skin that is slowing it down a bit.

Yeah, but I'll miss the screen size. I like the 10 inch size or 7. But your right, it lags and the Nexus 7 has the latest OS.

The OS can be changed at anytime, I cant believe people are changing hardware because of software.

Doesn't matter the age. I love this tablet. I am glad I have it. ICS isn't lagging for me at all.
I haven't had any real issues with my tablet. I was excited to get it and have been using it more than my laptop. I still will use the laptop, but I am mainly on my tab.

Alot of your decision should be made on how "you" use your tablet. I have a Nexus7, it's a great little tablet... runs great, looks good and it's easy to use and carry because of its size. But after a couple of hours of using it I really started to not like it... Because of its size... So much so it's now the replacement to my wife's old. OG Galaxy Tab.

Save your money... Here's what you should do in my opinion.
Spend your cash on getting the screen fixed, then if you already haven't... Root it using this method

Once you've got your GT10.1 rooted (assuming you haven't already) try out a couple of the CM roms.

Either this one (CM9 Alfa6) its a ICS 4.0.4 rom.

Or if you want Jellybean 4.1.1 try this rom out (CM10 Experimental)

I've been running CM10 for a month now... And haven't had any major issues at all. And it makes the GT10.1 amazing... you won't want to get a new tablet after you get it all setup.

Yes CM10 doesn't have a working back or front camera but then again the Nexus 7 doesn't have a back camera anyway so... And flash does work on it you just have to download it from a outside source.

The GT10.1 is still a great device and has more than enough power and memory to keep up with the Nexus 7.

Whatever you get, I hope you take better care of it than you did your tab. Leaving it in a place where it could be stepped on is pretty darn careless and irresponsible.
