Stereo recording possible? What app?

I want to record in stereo via an external stereo microphone. Is this possible? Is there an app for this? I've searched Android Market & Amazon App store with no luck.
I'm assuming that the headphone jack on Android phones (mine's a Samsung Fascinate) are configurable & will allow stereo microphone input. I assume this because I have a Square credit card reader that plugs into the headphone jack.

This is dismal. Not a single reply. I really had hoped that there was an app for stereo recording for Android. You can do it on an iPod, perhaps an iPhone too.

Somebody write one, please!
