Still getting redraw issue after root and code entry, any other suggestions?

I have been having that horrible refresh/redraw issue where it can take minutes to refresh the icons when going back to the home screens. There is a great code you can enter if you are rooted, which locks the home screens into memory so it never has to redraw them. And that worked GREAT.

But now it is back and I am not sure why, or even how.

My real question, I guess, is whether this problem ever exists on custom roms. I am willing to go that route if it will solve this one problem.

You can use ADW or any of the major launchers and get the option to keep the home screen in memory. The lag issue can/will still happen though. The problem is usually the app you're coming out of not having enough memory to "sleep". Look at what you have running and see if it still happens after a fresh reboot and not much(if anything) running.
