Still receiving double notifications when using handcent.

I finally tried handcent, and like it very much. One problem, I did everything I supposed to do to disable the stock sms. I still get double notifications. Please help...what did I do wrong?
This is what I did....
Open stock sms, hit menu, hit setting, uncheck auto retrieve, uncheck received notification.
What else do i have to do?
By the way, I'm having the EVO.
Thanks in advance whoever can help me.
P/S. I even tried to go into application manager to force close the stock sms.

menu>settings> uncleck auto-retrieve, received notifications, sent notifications, failure notifications

That should do it, I no longer receive two notifications.

My question is can handscent have signatures? Cant figure it out.

Just did all of that with mine and everything is working now just fine. Try just restarting your phone and making sure everything that is not supposed to be checked isn't and everything that needs to be checked is and you should be ok

I get double copies of message MOST of the time, not all the time (and yes, I have everything set correctly, and have reset my phone several times since I first loaded Handscent). FWIW, I primarily use Handscent for the pop-up feature and actually use the built-in Messages app for my normal management of texts. Hoping someone can shed some light on this...
