I'm looking to get a high-end Android phone because my little G1 is almost done for. I'm on T-mobile now, but I've considered the switch to Verizon or AT&T. Is the Nexus One on T-Mobile still worth it, or does it now pale in comparison to the competition? Also, willl it continue to get future Android updates, or is it reaching the end of its rope?

LOL, no where near the end of its rope. This is the device that the Android developers use now. It will continue to get the updates because it's Googles phone. I personally am very happy with the Nexus. There is only a few phones available that have slightly better hardware. IMO, if you're going to stick with T-Mobile then get the Nexus, if you want to change carriers then get the Incredible on VZW. AT&T, I can't really say because the new iPhone is due out in a month or so. Could be worth the wait or it couldn't. I think we're going to see some good things with 2.2 and Google will send it our way first. the problem with getting updates on every other phone besides the nexus is that you either have HTC,Motorola that have to test it as well as the carriers. Perfect example, the Droid. Great device but it's not what Google are using to develop the Android OS. If you look back this is why the G1 was and still is so customizable. Its what the developers use to create all this. Same with the Nexus. yes it has its quirks as any device does so it comes down to what do you want. Plus the Nexus is right now the most customizable phone on the market. You can install Sense,Stock,Cyan,Emo, and many other ROMs. There are slightly better hardware phones out there now and yes sooner than latter something will come along that will trump that device and so on. It's the way it is. If you try to keep up with the latest device you are never really going to learn what your device is capable of.

Agreed. I'm looking forward to having 2.2 and beyond on my N1 months before anyone else. All the customized UIs (Sense, Blur, TouchWiz) have to go through the manufacturer to update to build around their UI. I imagine we'll get the 2.2 update well before anyone else, a benefit of "stock" Android.
Besides, if you really want something like Sense there is always SPB Shell. It's the ONLY thing that got me by on my old WinMo 8525 on ATT before getting my N1 and moving to T-Mo. Stock Android is still so much better.

I don't regret getting my Nexus One at all. Though I am a little nervous to see what the next iPhone is going to be like. Hopefully the hardware isn't too close to the Nexus One. I like my phone being the best. ;)

N1 is by far the best phone that I've ever owne. Also i would stay on tmoble its cheaper then going to verizon unless you dont have good tmoble service. There is always going to be new phones that come out every 6 months or so but the nexus one will be right there with them. Maybe not with all the fancy stuff but it will hold its own.

Bottom line is that while everyone is talking about how fancy and how good Sense looks in a few moths we'll be talking about how great 2.2 is and there will be numorous threads about, "when is the update coming" wa wa wa. If you're happy with T-Mobile and just want to get a newer Android device the Nexus is for you. Just upgrade from one developer phone to the newer model developer phone.

I am another satisfied nexus on owner here to tell you that its a great phone

i was going to switch to verizon when the n1 came out....now i am staying with att and will buy the n1....the reason is because of gmail and sync..
can anymore confirm that the incredible does not do gmail and sync, google voice, etc?

The incredible has its own Gmail app that just does push Gmail, so I believe it does sync.

If you use exchange, you can only have one exchange account, and that account is also push

All other email are pull.

Not to sure about google voice on the Android. I know there are apps, or at least there should be as the Palm Pre[Plus] syncs very well with GV as well as all there email is push.

I only know what my friend shows me, she has a Palm Pre Plus, and go to great lengths to show me LOL
