stock dialer question

I have a moto x and when I swipe to the right to look at recent calls/contacts in the dialer it saves the screen I was on the next time I open it. Is there a way to make the dial pad (with the numbers) the default no matter what screen I used last? Thanks

The stock dialer will always default to the last viewed screen. There is no setting to change that.
