Stock Froyo 2.2...how do I root this??

This is just comical...nearly any thread in this section has a mention of the enability to root 2.2...PLEASE SEARCH....thank you.
I was aware of that, I just want to root it again since I am not a huge fan of Froyo.

The only thing you can do at this point is wait for someone to reroot 2.2.
Everyone said if you wanted to keep root you could not update to 2.2 and you all you had to do was wait a couple hours for someone to release a rooted version. That means that no, a method of rooting once you're on 2.2 less than 3 days after you get it will not be out.
Its just common sense. Everyone told you what would happen why didn't you believe them?

maybe this calls for a sticky that says you will lost root if you update to anything ever. sometimes new ppl don't read through enough to see it. this has to be why this question is already coming up so often.
That's exactly it...it's a simple answer. Why fill up the boards with threads asking such a simple answer, when it would of taken a minute to find the answer by simply searching? It's just a rule of thumb of forums to search before you ask a question, let alone start an entire thread. Not being rude in the least, just trying to remind everyone of the rules. At least now there is an entire thread...maybe other will find it easier. So I guess good job!
Here is the opinion of most... You should of never Updated...
Sticky wont make a difference... I cant tell you how many threads there are about how to return to stock...

So everyone knows... Every dev I know States to never do an OTA... They will break Root...

Since your missing Root now Dont Attack people with your Issues... The Forum had plenty of Posts Warning of Root being lost and no Root method for 2.2...
I personally have said it plenty of times...
Now your real issue is going to be... Who will help you once you really have an issue... I dont think any of the Heavy weights on here are willing to dish out advise for someone who cant keep his temper in check...
Do yourself a favor and Relax...
A lot of us have been thru alot Fixing and working **** out for the sake of others... Searching is golden...
If you really want to get Root... there is a method... just look for it... Unfortunately your not gonna like the method... Its the simplest way of doing it... and well its my method...
Tattrpuff Actually knows it too... sux to be you...Can't someone just RUU back to the original EVO then run simple root and then load up a Froyo Rooted ROM?

Why wouldn't it work? I know the Pre is a completely different animal but you could return to stock the exact same way...
as much as i could read, with the updated hboot, there's no way to do it. The 2.2 OTA updated it. i could be misunderstanding it but, i'm still reading everything i can find on this topic.
the Pre behaves differently. you can go back to 1.2 if you wanted to with just running the doctor for that version. when Sprint released OTA updates for new webOS versions, there was no doctor yet, and people just had to doctor to the old version and OTA-update it again.
