Is it safe to do the official Verizon OTA upgrade? Running 4.0.4 right now and I don't want to brick my phone again.

Have you installed a custom recovery (TWRP or ClockworkMod)?
If so, then the answer is NO - you cannot accept the OTA.
Have you frozen/deleted any apps?
If so, then you shouldn't accept the OTA until you restore those apps.
If the phone is JUST rooted and the bootloader is unlocked, it should probably be safe to accept the OTA, but of course the question is - why didn't you just flash the 4.1.2 stock/rooted ROM? You could use something like Mobile ODIN: http://market.android.com/details?id=eu.chainfire.mobileodin.pro

I rooted my Verizon s3 then installed rom manager and from that I flashed or installed cwm 6. now I can't get into recovery I get the yellow triangle saying modified software bring to nearest Verizon store message.I assume it's because I didn't unlock my bootloader.I did the update to 4'11 before I rooted im stock rom.the flash counter says 1 kernal modified in the top left above the triangle when trying to boot into recovery.my question is can I just flash a rooted 4.12 with an unlocked bootloader so I don't have to worry about the update later cause im already getting the update message without having to flash back to stock first or what.I tried the ez unlock its not in the playstore and the download apk wont install.is there another way to just unlock the bootloader or no.someone help me on this please.

If you can get into recovery mode or Odin mode you should be able to fix this. I found a great thread on Xda the first time I did it.

I have ClockworkMod installed.
I have frozen several VZW apps with Titanium Backup.
I had no issue accepting the OTA. CWM recognized that I would lose root and asked if I wanted that fixed. So I accepted the OTA and am now running 4.1.2 and still have root with no additional work.

Although I do have a SU backup from Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper.
