Stock ROM or Custom ROM?

Hello there!

I recently rooted my g/f's Optimus V & installed ROM Manager in order to install the Clockword Mod recovery (which I did install). Everything works great, and I have a stock ROM. My problem comes after I partition the SD card (in recovery) and try to move files using Link2SD. When I open Link2SD it gives an error and says that it can't mount the partition. I've also plugged the SD card into her Dell laptop and partitioned it with a Fat32 partition and Link2SD still gives the same error about not being able to mount. I'm beginning to think that the stock ROM is the problem and I most likely need to flash a custom ROM. I've read on here that BB 2.4 and Harmonia 1.5 are good ones, but I really just need something that will enable me to free up more space on her phone. I'd rather it not change things too drastically b/c i just don't think she's gonna like that. What are ya'lls opinions on a good ROM? Are the 2 that I mentioned the most stable of the bunch? Sorry for the long post.
Thank you in advance!!
:D

Switch to Harmonia or BB (for a semi-stock rom), you probably won't need to use Link2SD, most don't as they give you more room.

As to your problem, the stock rom doesn't support it Link2SD(I don't think).
Harmonia will give you better battery, and it still supported, BB will give you more speed but a bit less battery life, both of which are miles ahead of the stock rom. You may want to consider an IHO rom as well.

I used link2sd on the stock rom just fine. Are you sure both partitions are primary? They cannot be logical. Both must also be formatted as fat32. Also do not name the partitions.

Highly recommend Harmonia 1.5. Use it on my wife's phone. She likes the extra storage. She doesn't care about the other things. I installed maps on hers because she wanted nav. I also had harmonia 1.3.1 on my phone until recently, but changed to IHO CM7. I was starting to get some self enflicted issues, and needed a change.

Honestly, i'm not sure if they're both primary...is there somewhere I can look to check?

I can also confirm moving apps or games to the SD on my stock V rom . Just remember not to move widgets or' important apps'.

Update! I'm not sure if both my partitions were primary, but I went ahead and installed a custom ROM (Bumblebee 2.4) and Link2SD works and I have like 160MB free space on the phone's internal mem. I went w/ BB 2.4 b/c I already had CWM recovery and from what I read that wouldn't jive w/ Harmonia 1.5, so I didn't want to take a risk. Thanks to everyone who posted, I really appreciate it and couldn't have done it w/o you!! :)

Harmonia 1.5 will work with cwm. It is the older 1.3.1 version that is written with Amend scripting that won't work with cwm and requires the xionia recovery to flash.

Link2sd definitely works with the stock OV rom. I just set it up today. However you can't use rom manager to partition the card. Rom manager makes an ext3 partition, and apparently that the thing that the stock Rom can't use.

After trying rom manager and failing, I formatted the card in my phone to start from scratch (this wipes out any extra partitions) and used MiniTool on my PC to resize the main partition , and to create a new FAT32 partition on the empty space (made the type 'primary'). Reboot once and Link2sd works perfectly.
