Is anyone using the stock Samsung apps, such as Email or Internet or the Samsung keyboard? Ive decided to give it a go using stock Samsung apps. Not too impressed with the keyboard, so far.

I usually only use the stock apps as they are better optimised for the phone imo. :) however I do submit for others using a different one works better for them.

I used to use Google Chrome but it kept throwing up MediaServer in my battery stats which was chewing up my battery and was a resource hog. Since then I've stuck to Samsung internet app.

What don't you like about the Samsung Keyboard ?

I've never had an issue with the Samsung keyboard.

I've used 3rd party ones which have been fine but I always end up going ack to stock. :)

I like everything stock accept for 2 things. I use Gmail and SwiftKey. Gmail allows me to archive the easiest and SwiftKey, well, there is just no comparison.

I'm using stock Email, Messages and Internet. The email app is fine except for not notifying me when a VIP emails. Messages is just another straight-forward messaging app and I don't really miss Android Messages which I used on my old phone.

The internet browser works fine for me too. I thought I'd miss Chrome but not at all. I read an article about the Samsung browser and apparently "It outscores Chrome and the other current mobile browsers on the HTML5 compatible tests from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)". I also quite like the secret browsing mode which retains your browser tabs but keeps it securely behind a password.

also staying stock so far. is anyone using the stock reminder app, i like it but i wish the alarms were more aggressive.

I don't use the stock email app. I use google inbox. But I use stock messaging, internet, and keyboard.

i love the stock keyboard and calendar, they are the gold standard for me. I also love Samsung Internet. Messaging is pretty good, and I use the e-mail app for my work email

The stock browser is smoother and faster than Chrome. You can install the Samsung extension on your desktop browser to sync your bookmarks as well. Great thing about the browser is fingerprint authentication to automatically sign into your web accounts as well.

The first thing that goes is the keyboard. I don't mind all of the other apps, but the keyboard KILLS me.

Been thinking about using the stock apps too. Kinda want to try using the samsung calendar app instead of the google calendar app. Reason being is that it seems like the stock apps integrate better with the phone and Gear s3. I would be able to create event/reminders straight from my gear s3 if I used the native apps. Problem is that google calendar seems to handle events/reminders better than Samsung's apps. Took me a while just to find out how to create a reminder (not an event) through the samsung app. Another thing is that I can't get my google reminders to sync with the samsung calendar so I would need to create them all from scratch if I decided to switch over. So I'm on the fence.

Am I the only one having major typing issues with the keyboard? I tried using gBoard but it's no better. I don't know if it's lag from the time I press the key it's choosing the next one, but I simply cannot type on this phone with misspelling almost every word

have you tried changing the keyboard size?

Bingo.

I use stock messages, email, calendar, contacts, keyboard, but not browser. I love the privacy features in Firefox, although now that there are ad blockers for the Samsung browser, maybe I'll give it a try. I use UBlock Origin on Firefox and it blows away Adblock Plus for Firefox in terms of performance.

All the other apps work great with Office 365, syncing mail, contacts, and calendar from multiple accounts.

I like the Samsung keyboard but I have to turn off the predictive text, autocorrect, and the enlarged keypress animations. Only then is it fast enough to keep up with me without lag. I don't make many typing errors, and when I do, it's overall faster for me to fix it myself than slow down my typing to accommodate autocorrect. The main reason I keep it is because I love the key layouts in both portrait and landscape.

What do you use for reminders/tasks? For instance, I have bill reminders through google calendar. But if I want to use the samsung calendar and sync my googe account, it only syncs calendar events, not the reminders. There doesn't seem to be an option to sync the reminders either. I would need to create the reminders again. So that means that my events would be synced with my google calendar but my reminders would now need to be synced with my samsung account. Don't really feel like doing that but I'd be willing to try it if the overall experience is better. Hope that makes sense.

I used a third-party app (can't remember which one because I'd tried a few) that got bought by a big company a few years ago. Got irritated and just decided to use Samsung Tasks in the stock calendar app, which syncs with your Samsung account.

I use Wunderlist for reminders, and they work great on the S3 as far as popping up, snoozing or completing. I dont think you can create one from the S3 with Wunderlist.

Samsung has their own Reminders app now, it is cool looking, but doesn't have a method of scheduling repeating reminders yet

Stock keyboard and calendar. Stock browser seems good but I use Google chrome for saved passwords a lot. If I could sync those of use it. Use gmail app and chrome. Google keep for notes

I always try to go stock but the odd hurdle seems to get me back. One thing I like about the stock apps are the subdued colours rather than the cartoony ones in Google apps:
Keyboard: Wanted to use it but the auto correct seemed to not work properly.. went to GBoard.
Email: Loved it but I need the delete function to archive not delete. Moving emails to All Mail was a pain. Use Google Inbox now.
Calendar: I really like it but the reminders don't show up and Google really handles flights etc nicely automatically adding them from your email. Use Google Calendar.
Messaging: I use stock. It is nice. I use the Schedule a Message feature often!
Internet: Used Chrome because of my book marks but I just learned above that I can use a Chrome extension to sync them... will give it a whirl again!
I really want to like stock so I can only have one of all these items on my phone.
