Stock text app

I've been noticing a significant amount of lag while I'm typing in the stock Samsung text app. The reason I use it is due to only working with my Gear S2.

I'm currently using SwiftKey Pro on my phone. I've been using this keyboard since my first Android phone, the S4.

IMHO, you're probably better off using SwiftKey anyway, as it has way more customizations and options than Samsung's keyboard. I also have a Samsung phone (Note 3) and have been using SwiftKey for almost as long as I've had my phone.

You can try google messenger or textra. The second one has way more customisation options and works perfectly. And about swiftkey, it's the best

Very true, unfortunately, I would not be able to text from my Gear S2 since the watch requires the stock text messenger.
