I never gave putting my evo in my pocket much thought, until yesterday. I was walking through my kitchen and BANG... I smacked my leg on the corner of my granite countertop right on my evo. I pulled it out of my pocket to see the how smashed screen and to my supprise all was well. The screen was facing my leg and the counter hit the back of the EVO. WHEW...no damage...

From now on I will definately be making sure the screen is facing my leg and the back of the phone is out.

I bet most do it that way without even thinking about it. But good food for thought!

+1 i think its just natural to put the flat part of anything you put in your pocket towards your leg as it probably feels more comfortable.

I've done that since I cracked the screen on my Palm Pilot (ages ago) when I slammed my car door into my leg.

I've bumped a couple of times (lightly) with mine in my pocket. I always carry it screen-in because the rounded edges are on the back, so it doesn't stick out funny. More concealed. :)

I've always put mine in my pocket with the screen facing my leg mainly cause I have a rubber case on my EVO and it's easier to slide in my pocket with screen facing in.....lol

I learned that from my palm pre, heh. That had a plastic screen. Even worse. ;)

I also keep the screen against my leg since I cracked the screen on another phone several years ago. My concern is, if there is anything else in my pocket, keys, a thumb drive or pocket knife, that could be a pressure point against the screen and when I bump the phone that could crack the glass. I am still looking for a holster case that would clip on my belt.

ditto to what others said. I always put my phones with screen towards me leg for fear of walking into stuff or falling or whatever may happen.
I keep in my left pocket with absolutely nothing else in that pocket so nothing can scratch or puncture

Nothing else goes in the pocket with my Evo. Except maybe a handkerchief or Kleenex.

Another reason to have the screen facing inward is that the antennas are on the back. With the screen against your body the signal level won't be affected.
