Stoping ringtone

Is there anyway to quickly turn off the ringtone for mms and calls without hitting power and unlocking the phone its such a hassle

Never tried, but on other cellphones you can hit one of the VOLUME buttons and it'll mute the ringtone until you pick it up.

I believe hitting the volume down while a ringtone is playing will silence that ringtone.

tried the volume down thing, and dint work i tapped it and then held the volume down button

HTC used to have a feature on the WinMo phones where you could turn the phone upside down (screen down) to silence the ringer. Not sure if the Evo has the same feature.

Picking up the phone usually lowers the volume of the ringtone HEAVILY.

Doesn't the volume or any of the hardware keys work?

Yeah silebce on pick up only reduces the volume, and no have tried it.

There is a setting actually for turning on and off whether it lowers the volume of the phone when you pick it up. I forget what it's default is though.

it works for me. but i have it so that the volume decreases, not silences it.
