Stopping the el30 OTA reminder on my romed phone?

how do i stop that annoying OTA update prompt on my phone. i am happy with my custom rom (ACS ICS) and wish the reminder to stop popping up every 10 minutes.

Okay here's the dirt....

First, thanks to flastnoles11 at XDA for this one....

First off so everybody knows, feezing system updates did not work... neither did just installing the el30 modem... but this did... Ok this is very easy! Let it try to install... obviously it will fail because you are rooted... now you should see an exclamation point... just pull the battery and reboot! No more nagging message from your phone to update! This will work regardless of if you are on the el30 modem or not.... I have done it with the ei22 modem, el30 modem, and the ec05 modem and haven't had the update prompt after doin this...

There ya go.. Many have confirmed it works! Simple eh?

Worked for me for a few days, but then it came back. And I've still got com.samsung frozen anyway.

Yep, I did the same and it came back after a few days. Do I really have to go back to factory, update then custom rom??

Last I checked this was the only work around to this situation.

Even after doing that, would it even recognize that you did the update? Once I put a custom rom based on EI22 back on, I'd think that it would still nag me for the update again..

I did the install - fail - pull battery - reboot from CWM steps mentioned above, and it worked for a few days (4 to be specific). Then the update notification came back, so I did it again. I'm waiting for the ROM I'm using (Mostly Stock) to be updated to EL30. Installing an EL30 ROM ought to stop Sprint's update notification, right?

I remember something called FOTAKill which I think was supposed to stop update notifications. I never used it though, so I don't know if it will work for EL30; I think it was made for EI22. You could search around, see what you find out, and let us know if that's any better than the steps mentioned here. I hope this helps a bit.

Yes, I have to rerun the update every few days to stop the OTA prompt. Minor issue.....

But....For your other question...I used FOTAkill to stop the OTA prompt when I was on EC05 & didn't want to change......it is still in my phone, I restored it when the OTA came out, but it is not helping me

I am running CleanGB MTD & love it......waiting for the EL30 version
