(storage space running out) galaxy note2

ok I been fighting this storage thing for a week now, after deleting a lot of apps thinking it would help the "storage running out" notification kept popping back up. I got on this sight and seen that trick dialing *#9900# hoping that it will work on my model of galaxy... but sadly it didn't if someone knows a trick or whatever for the note2, I would greatly appreciate the inbox, I really would hate to format my phone. o and I just tried holding down my volume up, home, and power to do a step by step manual clear cache but that wouldn't work either.

Are you rooted or stock? I'm running a custom rom and move a bunch of apps to sd card.
