When apps need updating-i get error messages saying i do not have enough storage space-is there a good app that will help clear space and/or what do you suggest to do to clear up some space-maybe there is something already on my phone to help.

Whilst I would not recommend this app normally, Clean Master, free from the Play Store, is very useful for its junk file clean up capabilities. I would use it and then uninstall it as I find that it tries to take over your phone with all of its features and add-on's.

Instead of Clean Master, which WILL try to take over your phone, try SD Maid.

I'm not a fan of cleaner apps in general and almost never use one. But if you do SD Maid only does what it should do - clear out junk files, clean up databases etc. It does not try to take over your phone. It does not try to do things it shouldn't. There's no RAM cleaner/optimizer, no cache cleaner deleting useful cache files willy-nilly - just a powerful set of useful tools for doing useful things.

But...it is a powerful set of tools. Use with care and at your own risk!

Thanks for the recommendation. I've been using Clean Master for over a year now and HATE what it has become.

Clean Master is a horrible, evil thing.

Remember, cleaner apps, even a good one like SD Maid, are almost *never* needed. I've used Android since v1.0 and never needed to use a cleaner app.

I used the stock storage app in settings to find out that my google music player had been caching music on my internal storage till it filled it up. Super simple to change that setting then clean that apps cache and bam. Got me 5 gigs back. I'm sure that's not your issue but you can sort by app size to find out which apps are taking up the most space.

I agree with these sentiments. That being said, however, I can 100% see the usefulness in certain basic apps to help people with cache clearing and finding large files (big, big videos, etc...) that they might be unaware that they have. NEVER use any app that "keeps your RAM clean" - this is bad news on Android.

SDMaid is a good app, and doesn't run in the background. It runs when you ask it to.

Avoid CCleaner. Not nearly as bad as Clean Master though.

And remember, cleaner apps, even a good one like SD Maid, are almost *never* needled. Only in very rare, unusual circumstances. The chances of using one doing anything you will notice are practically nil.

What makes CCleaner as evil as Clean Master? Is it for real that the phone does not need a cleaner?
