hi im buying a gsm galaxy nexus and for straight talks coverage area for android is it based of atnt's android radio signals. that is the only thing preventing me from buying so is straight talk android and atnt android map the same or is it different?

Yes, it's nearly the exact same as proper AT&T service. There are some areas where you might not get service because it's an AT&T roaming zone (prepaid carriers don't have robust roaming like postpaid does), but those are few and far between.

When you buy your Straight Talk SIM, be sure to choose that you want AT&T or T-Mobile. They offer both services.

alright thanks! are straight talks speeds roughly the same?

Yep roughly the same. I think technically because they're wholesale purchasing from AT&T, they can use some QoS (Quality of Service) techniques to slow down the people they sell wholesale too. They'll do this in areas that are very heavily loaded and they want to give the best experience to Postpaid AT&T carriers. But in real-world use, the speeds are about the same.

ST feels almost as if you were on AT&T itself. I get sometimes almost 7Mbps down.

I've read on the prepaid thread over at xda that ST is the only Prepaid that has some roaming, whether that is just between Tmo & AT&T or other regional providers is unknown.
