So do any of these prepaid services let you use the 4G speeds if ATT has it in your area? (Guessing it wont work on LTE)

I am planning to just pick up the phone and getting a SIM card. trying to see what service is better. Or if there are any major plus's to each of them? Other than 4G that is!

The nice thing is that they are both ATT towers and in my area that should work nicely.

I do think Strait talk can roam now that I think about it and RP may not? Anyways thanks in advanced!

Sorry I am a prepaid noob!

Both Straight Talk and Red Pocket will give you HSPA+ "4G" speeds. Straight Talk also lets you roam on T-Mobile, whereas Red Pocket does not.

Straight Talk is very funny about data usage. They advertise unlimited data, but their terms of service ban basically everything except web browsing. You also can't use too much data at once or they'll get mad. 100 megabytes per day and 2 gigabytes per month is considered a safe estimate, but some people have been flagged anyway for "excessive" data usage.

If you make them mad enough, they'll terminate your service, as in you permanently lose your phone number. I've heard too many horror stories about this on Howardforums to recommend Straight Talk to anyone.

You'll pay more with Red Pocket, but you can use the data however you want. You'll also still have access to AT&T's base network, which is no slouch in terms of coverage. Buy your refills from Callingmart.com to save some money. They give out coupon codes on their Facebook page at the start of every month.

A good place to find out more about prepaid carriers is Prepaid Reviews | Ratings on Prepaid Cell Phones.

You get full HSPA+ speeds, not LTE. But the GNex doesn't have LTE anyways.

Straight Talk says "unlimited" data but are very strict on data usage. If you use more than 100mb/day or 2gb/month, they will warn you then kick you off of their service.

Red Pocket costs $15 more ($60 total), but you can use the 2gb of data as you want, because its a pre-determined cap. There are a few other plans for $60 like the T-Mobile one w/ 2gb (then throttle), and some other AT&T MVNOs also. Still a pretty good deal at $60/month. These also allow for refill cards from anywhere, and you can get some deals (like from callingmart.com, which I use) on the cards.

No prepaid carriers offer roaming. Straight Talk offers service on both AT&T and T-Mobile towers, but we're pretty sure you only get the one that you sign up for when you get the SIM, and it won't roam on the other.

Thank you for the information guys! I am just looking for a contractless option. I am sick of Sprint and all of they update every 2 years. I'm in hopes that I will b able to update my phone every year from Google as long as they will sell their phones to you as a few 100 less then the international version. Plus you get a Warranty! Otherwise it would be An HTC One X for me! Just not at the cost of $750...

If you guys know any cheaper ATT MVNOs please feel free to let me know! Or what your currently using. Tmo has no towers in my area! otherwise I'd use there $30 a month deal. They only have EDGE in my area...On ATT towers anyways! :P
