Strange Charging Issue

Hi all. Ive been reading since November in anticipation of the TBolt which I picked up on release day. It's not rooted, bone stock with all OTAs. About 2 weeks ago it wont charge beyond 87%. I have a stock battery & HTC 2750. Neither one will charge passed 89%, even overnight. Wasn't a problem until a couple of weeks ago. Anyone else? Any ideas? I've been checking regularly for similar problems, but have not seen anything.

Thanks.

Try a different charger and/or cable. Also, might be time to invest another $9.95 in your ThunderBolt.

Yeah, I neglected to mention that this occurs on all of my chargers. 2 stock wall chargers, car dock, desk dock, charger from my Bluetooth speakerphone. If it was 1 battery I would suspect it, but both batteries, any charger is a bit strange. Also, it happens whether the phone is on, or off during charging. I used to be able to plug it in (on) at bed time & it would be @ 100% in the morning, but now,... 89% every day.

Well, if it's the same with different batteries and different chargers, I guess it's time for a new TB. Only other thing is a factory reset. But it's doubtful that will fix it.

One other thing... what app are you using to monitor the charge percent? What does the phone's native monitor say? (While on the charger, tap on the clock and read the percent near the bottom of the screen.) Does the native monitor agree with whatever app you're using?

If all else fails, look into unlocking the bootloader and installing Clockwork Recovery using Revolutionary {LINK}. From Clockwork, you can clear battery cache in the "Advanced" menu.

Note: This is NOT actually rooting your phone, and it does NOT wipe any user data off your device.

Frank:

Wow, new TBolt seems drastic. It is great otherwise. I'm using the HTC battery widget, & yes it reads the same as the native monitor.
Thanks for all the input. I knew my post wouldn't be left unanswered for too long. You guys seem like a great group.
At this point, I'm just goin to wait & see if the OTA GB does something to cure it (you never know).

I would get a replacement phone. I am sure it is the phone from what you ate saying. Verizon will give you a replacement.
