Strange Charging Problem On S10

Overnight i use one of the 2 USB outlets on my 13amp wall socket(UK). If I’m at work or travelling i use a 2xUSB charging unit. If I’ve charge my phone from one USB outlet, the following night it wont charge from that outlet. I’ll unplug the lead and move it to the adjacent USB outlet and it will charge fine. The same thing happens with 2 USB charging unit i use.

This seems to have started about 4 weeks ago anybody else finding a similar problem lately.

I see you are a newer user here - welcome to Android Central!

Hmm, that is a strange issue, for sure. Here are a few things to try.

Does the problem still occur once you reboot your device?

Try booting your phone into Safe Mode to see if the issue persists.

Have you used the original charger that came with your S10?

Have you tried using other outlets and received similar results (ie, a different outlet will work one day but not the next)?

Inspect the jack plug if you can for damage.
Try another charging cable or a 3rd one if you did that already. Use a different brand.
Samsungs ships with a beefier fast charge cable/charger with many their newer phones.
The phone's charge controller senses if it's a fast charge cable and will enable fast charge if so and if enabled in the phone.
If the phone supports fast charging try toggling it off or on.
Try charging with the phone turn off.

I have a similar issue. Very frustrating to say the least. Some USB c cords work great and the same cord a different day/time will give me an error of slow charge or poor connection. Very random. I have to keep disconnecting and retrying to get it working. These are 3rd party cables. No issues at all with the official Samsung one but it's amazing how picky it is. Sometimes I wonder is it my device USB port?? I really can't imagine everyone buying the official cable/charger given their cost. I need like 7 cables/chargers between 2 work sites, 2 cars, and rooms in the house. So I assumed most people like me buy cheaper 3rd party ones ??????

>Keep cord length to 3 feet.
>Longer ones will cause issues many times.
I keep the original fast charge cable with the 25 watt brick, yeah they're way pricey :(
Have another I got at Wallmart no issues.
Just because you pay a lot doesn't mean you get more value either.

The plastic "tongue" inside the plug jack, make sure it's intact with no visible cracks or missing pieces. If you let sunlight or use a high intensity light source to illuminate it, you can see the dual contacts on each side.
Use a magnifier to check their condition. The one side is very hard to see...

Keep dirt, water and especially sweat away from this port; keep it and the plug clean.

Now that you got me thinking, they only thing I don't like about my phone case is this port isn't covered, oh my...

To answer a few of the above
I power off my phone most nights so yes, it get’s rebooted regularly.
Problem still there in safe mode.
Not sure if i remember where original charger and lead are.
Phone is over a year old and worked perfectly well with current lead and charger until about 4 weeks ago.
This is happening on all USB ports i have round the house.

I remembered i’d bought 2 charging leads when i got the one i’m using which i have now found. This is unused and seems to be working fine in the 6 different USB in the house. So it seems it could be the lead. I was put off the lead being the problem because it works if i swapped USB ports. Will try new lead over night and report back.

Thanks for all advice guys.

Try cleaning your USB port with compressed air , and qtip with rubbing alcohol , how is wireless charging?

I'm looking at the cables... especially if longer than 3ft
Stopped using the longer ones altogether because of slower charging and high failure rate.

Yes, please let us know what happens when you've tried the new lead. :)

So as an update it turns out it was the USB cable. The fact that it worked alternate USB ports was a bit of a red hearing. I have used the new lead for the last couple of nights and no problems with charging.

Cheers guys.
