Strange icon in notification bar.

I noticed today after using Google Now that an icon of an eye with eyelashes (I know it sounds strange) showed up for a second then disappeared. Any thoughts?

Its smart rotation. If you rotate tour phone it checks your heads orientation. So if you are laying down and looking at your phone straight on it won't rotate the screen.
You can sit it off under
Settings> display> features> smart rotation
