Strange message?

Why do I get the German language message at the bottom of my screen whenever I make or end a call?

Spam or malware maybe. I had a similar pop up on my chrome browser also in German and the only way I could get rid of it was to uninstall chrome then reinstall. Any idea what it says? Are you in the U.S.?
It also spoke to me...in German. To be on the safe side I ended up doing a full factory reset. Is the phone app uninstallable? If so you could do that then reinstall. If not then an FDR may be in your future.

Not having a ringtone shouldn’t cause this. It will just ring silently. And why a German message?

I think the person above you was simply pointing out what the message says.

I'd bet it's malware. that yellow triangle exclamation thing is something I've never seen on either one of my pixel devices.

My guess is that you have installed an app having to do with ringtones that was made by someone in Germany.
