stream recorded video to chromecast

Is there a way to stream video that I recorded on my is s6 to the chromecast?

You should be able to mirror your phone screen to your Chromecast. Open the Chromecast app once on the same wifi and it should work.

Back your photos & videos to Google+, and the Google photos app has Chromecast support. This is what works for me.

There's an app in the play store called LocalCast. Download that, it works with chromecast. When you want to cast a video, select the share option instead of play and share it with LocalCast

do you really need a separate App? I have the Fire stick and all I need to do is enable mirroring in the Fire stick settings and then when I open video on the phone, Screen Mirror is one of the share options. This is built into the os I believe.

Casting is much better than mirroring. When you can, you can still use your phone for anything but calls and it won't interfere with whatever you're casting. When you mirror, everything on your phone comes up on the TV

Is the video quality better with casting?

I can't imagine that I would need to use my phone for anything else at the same time.

It depends on your TV. You can cast up to 1080

On the S5, you can cast the screen using the Chromecast app. Under the menu, there is an option "Cast Screen". That basically mirrors your screen. You can then watch your recorded vidoe, play video from google drive, surf the web on your TV, or play a game on your TV. Lollipop opened this feature up.

LocalCast actually works with more than chromecast does. Download it and from your Google Drive you can share to LocalCast. At that point it's the same as chromecast. No need to mirror your screen
