Streaming Apps stopping after 5-10 minutes, since Nougat update on Nexus 5x

Since updating to Nougat 7.0 (build NRD90R with Patch level Sept 6, 2016) on Google Nexus 5x, at least two apps are no longer streaming continuously. Tunein Radio seems to be working fine. Apps I've had problem with so far:
-- Bob and Tom Show, allows user to select from multiple radio stations to stream their morning show.
-- MPR Radio, the streaming service from Minnesota Public Radio.

So my questions are...
-- Any solutions?
-- Any techniques to better characterize the problem (logs, errors, traces, etc)?
-- Anyone else seeing this?

And, of course, as I wrote this the MPR app has not stopped since I restarted it for the second time.

Edit: This is on WiFi. I have two routers, one used as a wired range extender (the 2nd router is wired to the first essentially as a gigabit switch + AP with DHCP handled by the first router). Will try streaming from a different WiFi net to see if the same issue occurs, but it was working fine before Nougat update.

It is 7.0 annoying aggressive Doze mode. You have to exclude those apps from Doze otherwise the device would go into a deep sleep and stop streaming to "save battery".

@tonyr6, it's more than Doze mode. Turned Doze off for streaming apps [Settings-Battery-RightMenu-Optimization, select each app and turn off "battery optimization"]. At least I think that's what you were referring to.

I switched back over to TuneIn for radio streaming which leaves the original, but now low priority, issue with Nougat and the apps on Nexus 5X. My Nexus 5 (running Marshmallow, streaming via the same WiFi network) doesn't exhibit the problem.

BTW, we have had four Tuxedo cats over the years. Very cool
