Android Central Question

I'm wanting to upgrade my phone. Currently using a OnePlus 7 Pro.

I'm not bothered about camera quality as I never take pictures, neither do I game on my phone, like, at all.

I do, however, watch a lot of youtube videos. Probably too many.

5G isn't a bother for me either, it isn't widespread enough currently and I don't live in or near a city that supports 5G.

So I guess I'm looking for a phone with a great screen, great speakers and a high refresh rate. Also, the OnePlus finger print scanner has been a little hit or miss, nothing seems to have the sharp reaction of Apple's face ID.

The only thing is...I don't want a phone designed or made in China. This isn't a Sinophobic thing, it's a work-security thing.

While Apple is designed in California, it's assembled in China, so it's a no-go.

Andddd....GO.

I think the S20 FE might fit the bill. I wouldn't say the speakers are great, but they're good. I'm very pleased with mine.

I am also trying to decide on a phone. I currently use a Pixel 2, but the updates are ending. I came from Windows -- where I had a W10M phone for years and received updates. I like the comfort of a phone that is kept up to date, but only 2 years? And most won't guarantee any, the phone may be out of date when you get it. I know that the evil apple empire will update for several years, and am reminded of that fact frequently by some coworkers. I am Android because I can 'Microsoft-ize' my phone. Is there any android manufacturer that will stand behind their products and update the software and android versions for a longer period of time? I really need to make sure I am secure but don't think it should require new hardware all the time...

Thanks for any and all feedback!!

If length and dependability of updates are your biggest concerns, then a Google pixel is going to be your best choice. They offer 3 years minimum of monthly security and feature updates, and 3 os upgrades above what comes on the phone. They even added an extra year to the original pixel... that's why the "minimum" part lol, cause' you just never know ;)
