Any assistance is appreciated.

I rooted a few days ago and did the forever S-off. I have ROM Manager loaded and was poking around in the system. I downloaded Skyraider and ROM Manager asked me to reboot. Not thinking it wouldn't let me know what it was doing when in recovery before doing something the rom had been applied. Now the Phone has for 40+ minutes been at the "HTC Incredible" boot screen.

I have read not to pull the battery but The power Button and Volume button do nothing so I could really use some suggestions. As a little more info I have not flashed the radio yet so it was a 1.x radio that a 2.2 rom was just seemingly applied to.

Bricked or recoverable? I have a Nandroid backup if someone can help me get back to that point...

I'm no expert, but from what I have read if you can't get past the first splash screen you have a brick. Do not freak out yet though I think this is fixable. hold on, whatever you do, DO NOT PULL THE BATTERY!! I will see if I can get some more info on this if someone doesn't beat me to it.

OMG if you get to the HTC Incredible screen you are FAR from a brick.....

You need to go download the 7/27 leak follow the instructions for the rooted version. Flash the img file to put you back at 1.00 radio factory fresh, then install the OTA leak etc and you will be running again.

However if it did this installing Skyraider just pull the battery and restart the phone it will boot. If you bricked it you wouldn't get as far as you did. The only time you don't want to pull the battery is a "mess up" situation is flashing a radio or during the process of installing a rom. Once a reboot has started you can do whatever you want under most situations.

Thank you. This was Good advice. I followed pulling the Battery and recovery worked.

Please note my circumstances before you pull your battery when an issues arises.

I am going to put myself in a corner now. Lol. I think there needs to be a troubleshooting guide to the main topics with hacking in the same fashion as there is with guides. I know I saw something somewhere that said you could have a brick if you cannot get off the splash screen, obviously I was wrong. I was just trying to offer some help and I guess I'm not in the position to be doing that, at least not at this point. I know some things can be frustrating to people, and I am glad there are a lot of people that spend much more time than I do that are more knowledgeable than I am (dose of humility) to help with these things. I know I am greatfull for this community. I'm just glad you found what you were looking for.

No you offered the safest advice until someone who knew better came along and that's fine. No need to take a dose of humility! There are times in which you don't want to pull the battery if it sticks. Like during a radio install when it's rebooting and sticks before going to the install screen (Box with the arrow / black screen). If it sticks there, or more appropriately you think it's stuck, and you pull the battery it will leave your phone without a working radio and your phone will not start up. Bricked. But at times like he had eh anything you want to do. Just so you guys know you can't brick a phone messing with ROMs, worst case scenario you have to boot the phone into recovery and flash or restore a different ROM.

I just had this problem, and found an easy fix by trial and error. Pull the battery and replace it. Power on while holding volume down. Wait until it stops trying to find PB31IMG. Us volume down and power to select recovery. Wipe data and cache, then restore your nandroid and reboot. Voila.

sdgides - This is a very old thread, and the leak referred to here won't work on the current builds.

What happened to your phone? Please outline what you were doing/hoped to do and what happened. We're here to help.

All of the info in this thread is very outdated, almost a year old. Please provide us with some information about your situation, what you were doing before your phone got stuck. Feel free to start a new thread if you wish, you will probably get better responses that way.

I uploaded a new ROM from CYANOGEN 7, and I didn't like it, so I tried to system restore back to CYANOGEN 7 and it froze on the HTC Incredible boot screen. I did take out the battery thinking that would restart. I can get into that HBOOT screen, I just need to know how to get it to boot, if there is something I can download, a link to steps to take etc. I am up for a new phone in October, I just don't want to use my outdated super slow black berry until then. It's been three days and is driving me crazy already! ha ha ha.

I have tried to do a full factory reset a few times, and it just stays on the HTC Incredible boot screen so I am thinking it is missing some sort of file that it needs since I am pretty sure it's not bricked since I can get into the HBOOT screen and can navigate around in there.

Help is appreciated!

Can you boot into Recovery from HBOOT?

If so, Clear Cache and Dalvik Cache under Advanced and try to reboot.

If that does not work try re-flashing CM7 again and get running. Then once you are running we can pick another ROM like Nothing Special or Virtuous if you want a Stock rooted ROM.

I was able to clear the Dalvik cache, and when i try to reboot it still gets stuck. How would I go about reflashing CM7? I am pretty tech saavy, which is why I have no idea what went wrong when I tried to do the system restore in the first place.

Thanks again for your help, I greatly appreciate it.

OK - we are going to start from scratch.

Boot into recovery - Clear Data, Cache and Dalvik. This will wipe everything on the phone but not the SD Card.

Then select Install zip from SD
I'm assuming you used ROM Manager to install previously so navigate to /clockwork/download/download.cyanogenmod.com/get/ and look for the most recent CM7 download. Select it and install it.

NOTE: If you did not use ROM Manager to install CM7 initially then navigate to where ever you stored the file. /download or some other location.

Reboot

This should take you to the CM7 setup. 1st boot can take 10 min or so, so wait at least 15 before doing anything else.

Worked, we have a functioning droid! I am a very happy girl now. Thank you so much! I hope all of this helps in case anyone else has this issue.

Glad it worked.

Now if you want to go back to stock, you can try the "Nothing Special" ROM. It's listed in the ROM's and Mod's HQ thread under Sense ROM's. You can download it through your phone and flash it just like we did for CM7. You must wipe Data, Cache and Dalvik to flash a new ROM.

Nothing Special is a stock, rooted ROM with the VZW Bloatware removed.

Have fun! We're here if you need help.

Pull the battery and boot into clockwork - Remember that in clockwork the select action is to push the optical joystick button, not the power button. The power button takes you back one level.

Did you clear data, cache and dalvik cache before flashing the new ROM?

Clear those three and reflash.

If it still hangs, boot into recovery and restore your nandroid backup and it should put you back to where you were.

Dear all,

Firstly, I desperately need assistance with my HTC Incredible S...any help is much appreciated.

Basically, the phone asked me to install an update. I downloaded it, it got apparently installed and then got stuck in the HTC screen for around 45m... CLASSIC MISTAKE, I pulled the battery out...and guess what? It is still stuck there...I am freaking out. Plus, I have been trying to read any possible solutions but none match my problem. In addition, I know veeerry little about specific terminology so bear in mind I am a bit of an idiot in this field.

I really need my phone to be working asap and I am running out of patience..plus I bought it in Russia, where I live now, and I kind of do not know yet how to explain this in Russian...xD

Thanks a lot beforehand,

Miz
