My Nexus 7 has started having problems charging. I have been trying to fully charge it and can't get it past 82%. I have tried all the tricks (reversing polarity, different charges/cables, plugging/unplugging USB from charger 4 times) but it's giving me fits. I have a better meter on it that shows battery drain. Most of the time when plugged into a charger it shows a drain not a charge. Occasionally I can get it to show a positive charge going it but it doesn't last long and goes negative. Any ideas? The battery life seems to be good still so I don't think the battery is worn out.

Thanks!

Ok so I took the back off and unplugged/re-plugged the battery. It did not help. Do I need a new battery?

Well I believe I have the problem fixed... I downloaded Battery Fixer and it scanned my battery and found one block (cell?) don't know what it was that needed fixing, but it did something. Then it directed me to download and run their battery calibration app. I ran that and it said it was going to shut down my tablet and to plug it in and charge fully. So it shut down and I plugged it in. A couple hours later I fired it up and it was 100% charged! And it's been charging fine ever since.

And I was wrong. I have not started and Odyssey of factory reset, flashing back to 4.4.2, etc trying to get this thing to charge. I have also ordered a new headphone/usb cable/port thingy to put in there in case the usb is broke. I did have the device call about two feet and land on the usb cable end that was plugged in a few months back. So on we go.
