The Nexus 7 is a great tablet, and it's around $229. I'm sure you could find one for a little bit lower, and if not, the 2012 edition goes for a lot less, and that's still a great choice for the price :)

Lg gpad if still on sale at newegg. N7 is top notch screen quality and performance wise but 7'' is too small for me.

I have the EVGA Tegra Note 7 from Newegg. I love it. I had the Nexus 7 (2013) before this, and I can tell a difference in performance for sure, in the Tegra Note's favor. The Nexus 7's screen looks amazing, but the high resolution combined with an older processor, while not slow, is noticably less quick than the more powerful Tegra 4 processor in the Tegra Note. For some reason I truly don't understand, depsite the Tegra Note only having 1 GB of RAM vs. the Nexus 7 (2013) having 2 GB of RAM, I have significantly fewer home screen redraws (where the icons and widgets on the homescreen need to reload when you press home) on the Tegra Note than I did on the Nexus 7. Plus, the Tegra Note has a pretty amazing stylus (similar in function to the stylus of the Note 8). Plus you get an SD card slot (great for storing large numbers of movies) and a micor-HDMI port, which means you can charge your device and have it display on a TV at the same time, which you cannot with Slimport that the Nexus 7 uses (yes both have Miracast, but not everyone has a Miracast capable TV).

Overall, I like the Tegra Note better. If you're okay with slower updates and a lower resolution screen than the Nexus 7 has, the Tegra Note outperorms it and only costs $199.
