suggestions for a kernel

if you download the kernel from your phone you can install it from the sd card with rom manager as well. Just make sure to check the backup and wipe boxes just in case...

I don't think I'd suggest a wipe from ROM manager just to load a Kernel. Dalvik Cache sure but that isn't done from the back up and wipe check boxes.

Definitely take a backup though.

I had the same thing happen to me when I used Kings Kernel earlier tonight. Once I get everything flashed to the device I can no longer use the touch screen I also noticed a bit of screen flicker when using the the firs kernel. Is it worth trying all of the kings kernels or are they just new releases?

You might have to keep trying different kernels. Be sure you are using sense kernels if you are running a sense rom. If you are using CM6 or an AOSP rom you need to be running a AOSP kernel.

On your second post...can you not flash another kernel? Cycling the power won't work and you don't need to revert to a backup ROM just yet. The problem is withing the kernel i think.

What ROM/Kernel are you using?

I'm running CM6.0.2 with Kernel 2.6.32.15-ga81a44f. I guess I jumped the gun in assuming these Kernels would work with CM6, where should I look for kernels that work with the rom I am using?

I would recommend this forum. What you will be looking for is [KERNEL] [AOSP/CM] in the header. AOSP = Android Open Source Project and CM is obviously CyanogenMod.

For any other Sense based ROM, you can use the normal everyday kernels.

Here is a link to one that would work: [KERNEL] [AOSP/CM] [2.6.32.21] [HAVS][BFS][OC][UV] KiNgxKernel #1/#2 "Patch Up" - xda-developers

Here is a link to a kernel chefs webpage... i have always used King's Kernels too.

I'm looking around on the KingxKlick Forums trying to find out what the difference is between CFS and BFS kernels. I'm not really seeing anything discussing the differences. Anyone care to explain or point me to a post that covers the topic?

The conclusion might be the answer you are looking for. It gives the "purposes" of each scheduler. Read the Results section in the pdf, then base your decision off that. It's purely personal whatever you choose, you are not going to see much difference either way you go unless you know what to look for or experience unstability. I prefer BFS.

"This indicates that BFS is better for interactive tasks
that block on I/O or user input and that CFS is better for batch processing that is CPU bound."

Whats the best kernel right now that doesnt take 6 hours to fully charge a stock 1300MAH battery?

I've tired out basically all of them and they just dont charge fast enough. And i'm not buying an external battery charger sometimes I'd like to give my phone a quick 20-30 minute charge and it maybe bumps the battery up 5%

Have you wiped your battery stats before?
