Hi all,

I was going through some updates and saw that SuperUser needed updating, so I updated it. It now tells my by Su binary needs to be updated. Says my version is 2.3.1-er. I've read some forum posts saying that there are problems with the SuperUser and Su binary updates. So, I'm a bit leery of updating. Anyone know the current status? Is it safe for me to update?

Also, I was wondering if I really needed busybox and if so, what is the best way to install it. Right now I don't have it, and it doesn't seem to be having any issues. I'm running link2sd and droidwall which are the two rooted programs I care the most about. Do I really need busybox? Thanks! - DAve.

As to not be a viewer and not post something. I am not familiar with the apps you have so no input there. I just updated SU to 3.0.6 dont seem to have any issues. As for busy box, i dont use it. I guess i dont need it. I cant remeber what it does. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I'm guessing I probably don't need busybox. At one point I think it was needed if you rooted your phone.

My update gave me 3.0.7 for SU. Now I notice it is saying "Su binary vnull" where it use to have2.3-1er. Things seem to be working okay...just making me a bit nervous....don't want to have to reinstall stuff.

If you used gingerbreak to root your phone busybox isn't needed and a basic form of it is installed by the gingerbreak program. Update SU like you would any other program I have seen no issues what so ever from a SU update on our phone.

Thanks all...@donavan gave me the assurance I needed....I went ahead and updated the SU Binary via SuperUser 3.0.7 and didn't have any problems at all. I did notice it downloaded a custom version of busybox. Not sure if that remains on the phone, or if it got rid of it once the update was over.

I'm pretty sure it remains on the phone, I'm pretty sure it has to for the root to work. Busybox is a small collection of tools used in the linux operating system that does things like copy, move, edit and rename files. If you're really interest in busy box check out the following link... Honestly though unless your planning on doing some heavy duty hacking or you want to build linux from the ground up don't bother.

BusyBox
