I've been trying to convince myself that the Pre was THE iPhone killer and that Android couldn't multi-task and that webos was the bees knees!!! I've used Palm products for years and I really wanted to support them. I've had my Pre (I got my wife one too!!! Crap!) for about 3 months. It's a nice OS and has potential but it's just too little too late as far as fixing the bugs and, uh, the hardware has issues.

Anyways, my point is that I think there are a lot of people flooding in here...on your territory...that need help. I for one am having to swallow my pride by doing so. I've seen a lot of posts asking for help. I've seen webos mentioned a lot and I've seen it compared to Android. I've seen people get mad and offended. I've also seen people get the help they needed.

I guess what I am asking is for you longtime Android users to be patient and supportive. Look at it as a positive thing that you have a great chance to expand your favorite products popularity and think of how much market share Android is gaining. You know that if I, we, us, have a positive experience here and actually learn something we are going to share it with others and expand Android that much more. I know that us old webos'ers would have loved to have a problem like this.

In fact, I think there should be a sticky for people transitioning from webos to help us make a seamless move. I think it could only benefit everyone.

Of course I don't have a EVO yet but only because I worked 12hr days Fri-Sun. I'm going to try my hardest to get one Monday if they are available. Luckily, having just "upgraded" two of our 3 lines to the Pre's I still have one available on my daughter's line. Thank goodness for that.

So anyways, I don't know who is in charge here or who are the "old timer" forum experts but if you guys and gals could reach out to us and be patient it would be amazing! I know many of you have tried. I know many of you have become frustrated. Just please help us make the switch.

One thing that webos had is an amazing group of people supporting each other at Precentral. They truly are amazing. No slam to Androidcentral but I think anyone could benefit from trying to emulate what they had going on there.

Btw, I'm glad to be here!

That is all.

There are a lot of people coming here from WebOS, I'm one. I had the Pre on day 1. Most people try to help, however some people just don't even attempt to search or try to do something themselves. It is a learning curve, but not that bad. Most is common sense when you just take your time and figure it out. Before I made my move to Android, I attempted to research as much as I could, and then I jumped in and went from there. There's tons of info on here that can get you through (not just you, anyone). I try and help as much as possible, and will continue, all I ask is that people at least make the attempt 1st to try it on there own.

I think the people here have been helpful. You always get that one guy though. I still have my Pre and have not yet left WebOS, upgrading soon though.

If you ask me I feel we need that " 1 " or " 2 " guys to SAY RTFM ... or Search ... I know I think at least 3 times and search before I post ... and even then I may miss that its been posted before ... The Mods seem to be truly fair about the post when letting them stay moving them and closing them off ... Its a learning curve that I get excited about everytime I find something new ... Now can some one tell me how to activate my Text to speech ha ha ha ha

It is indeed a learning curve, and it is a fun one at that. The Mods do do a great job at closing them or moving them along.

Fact is there are all sorts of defectors coming into the forums - Pre users, iPhone users, BlackBerry users etc... While we do our best at helping out and leaving threads alone we do have to draw a line. So don't get upset if a thread is closed or you are asked to search. We aim to keep these forums organized and clean and every choice we make is what we will feel is best. Most everyone here is willing to help and be friendly so enjoy your stay and good luck with the new device!

Fair enough. I guess I was just thinking out loud and was hoping some of the people that can be hard on us newbies might tone it down a touch. I know there are a lot of new people here, not just from webos, so it's going to be hectic for awhile.

We're all so lucky that a place like this exists...could you imagine if we didn't have this community to rely on?
