I used to have SURE Universal Remote control to handle various components like TV, AV Receiver, WDTV Live ... on my Galaxy S4.
It works very well with minimal ads. I like it better than Peel Smart Remote which using aggressive ads.

Today I have a Galaxy S8 as a gift. Smart Switch works very good to transfer existing S4 data & apps over S8 in few minutes. Everything seems fine except SURE Universal Remote that doesn't work at all.
I tried Peel, IR remote and several other remotes. All of them won't work either.

So the question is if Galaxy S8 having anything to do those IR apps?
I need your help in this issue.

Regards,
Oanh.

Welcome to Android Central! The S8 doesn't have an IR blaster, so apps that rely on an IR blaster won't work. I'm guessing that SURE could still be installed to your S8 because it does other things besides act as an IR remote (like casting media wirelessly).

The S8 doesn't have an IR Blaster to send the signals to your devices like a traditional remote. If that's what you need, then I'm afraid you're out of luck, as it will be physically impossible for you to use IR remote apps.

The LG V20 is the most current flagship phone I'm aware of that still has an IR Blaster.

That's suck to know the S8 won't carry on those good old stuffs like IR blaster.
When installing those new remote control apps, all they're looking for devices via WiFi connections. None of my components having WiFi capability except WDTV Live.
